Bryce Barcelo

Bryce Barcelo is the Director of Intellectual Property Strategy at Certum Group, where he leads Certum’s IP licensing, funding, insurance, litigation, and acquisition strategies.
EDUCATION
Bryce graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, cum laude, and a Juris Doctor from The University of Houston Law Center.
EXPERIENCE
Before coming to Certum Group, Bryce spent more than a decade at one of the country’s premiere litigation boutiques where he litigated cutting-edge intellectual property cases. Often representing “mom and pop” plaintiffs versus tech-sector goliaths and other Fortune 100 companies, Bryce steered these complex, bet-the-company style suits to resounding success on behalf of his clients, securing several landmark victories. With experience in the country’s top patent jurisdictions, including the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, District of Delaware, and the Northern District of California, Bryce’s experience is attuned to modern patent litigation and his successes have been recognized by The National Law Journal, Law360, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and The Texas Lawyer.
Bryce is also a professor at The University of Houston Law Center where he teaches the Procedure of Patent Litigation to second- and third-year law students and LLM students, providing students with both theoretical and practical understandings on the lifecycle of a patent suit.
Prior to his legal career, Bryce was a rocket engineer who oversaw the development and implementation of critical lift-off instrumentation for the Delta IV Heavy expendable heavy-lift launch vehicle for the NROL-49 mission at Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County, California.
